Topix.com Witnesses forum closed down?
by thistheother inhttp://www.topix.com/forum/religion/jehovahs-witness.
apparently we had just been nailing the final nails in the blood doctrine (by way of discussing the wts flip-flopping) and discussing the (un) scriptural reason for the wts banning of beards.
i was surprised by how few the responses were and the ones that were there were very weak and not to the point.

My 16 year Old is Having Surgery Tomarrow
by lovelylil inboy am i glad we are not witnesses anymore.
my son is having two large cysts removed tomarrow, they are in sort of a delicate area.
because of where they are located, the potential for heavy blood loss is high.

Hoarders....OMG

it is a story about a man that has over 2,000 rats in his home as pets!.
his house is a wreck, i could stand that .

Most hoarders are very OCD. They get caught up n the minutia and cannot handle the big picture. Even small scraps of parer are important to them.
Chickpea- Noodles and Jezzie are adorable!
Rats are the best pets, but not 2000 of them all at once.

My mom throws a not so subtle threat my way
by JWinprotest inmy fade is going well, but my mom knows full well what my thoughts are on the wts.
it seems that she feels comfortable just ignoring the situation in order to keep seeing her grandchildren.. the other day however we were talking about someone we know who is making it very difficult for her parents to see their grandchild.. then out of the blue, my mom turns in my direction and says, that if any of her kids try to deny her from seeing her grandchildren, she would take them to court and get a court order to force them to let her see them.. i know what the message was, and it was loud and clear.
she is letting me know that if i get disfellowshipped there's no way i can keep the kids away from her.

Grandparents most certainly have rights. In NY State grandparents have standing with the court if there has been on going relationship with the grandchildren the and if they pursue their rights then they might well get visitation. I don't think it would be hard to make sure it is supervised visitation, with the parents or other neutral party supervising.
My son has been in a four year family court battle and my husband and I had to petition the court to get visitation with our grandsons. So far , we have been granted 2 hours every other week supervised . It is an expensive nightmare. Soon we will be getting unsupervised day visits but our ex daughter in law has fought every inch. She has no problem lying under oath to get her way. Religion has nothing to do with our case though.
Much trouble can be saved by offering some small access, 4 or 5 short day visits a year, possibly in your home, would satisfy the court. I don't think they would give much credence to the shunning but would see it as not being reasonable or cooperative.
I definitely think you should always be present when your parents are with the children, it will stop many problems before they start and you would have a record for the court that they only had supervised visits.
You would have to check with the judicial system where you live for details.

Introduction
by dontplaceliterature inbefore i begin my introductory post, i would like to mention that a number of my initial comments here may be viewed by several of you as watchtower apologist or as sympathetic to the views of the jehovahs witnesses.
the last thing i want to do is incite a flame war regarding my legitimacy or intentions in joining this forum.
mostly, i would describe myself as on the fence.

Welcome
I was a little off put by the names used here when I first started reading here but I could see the pain through the language. I found comfort in reading the experiences of people who went through experiences similar to my own.
Your use of "bastard children" is off putting to me too. There are no bastard or illegitimate children only bastardly, illegitimate parents and that has nothing to do with their marital status.
I stopped being active because the lack of love was glaringly apparent in every congregation I attended. For a while I thought it was just local, but it's not, it is everywhere. I thought the lack was in me...maybe some of it is my own lack...but not all. I haven't shared a lot of my experience here because it is still just too painful to touch, even on these forums, but it is very healing to be here all the same.
I wish you well,
